Why Hiring a Professional Video Crew Matters

Video production is as much a work of art as it is a culmination of the technical skills of dozens of people. The more skillful the crew is, the greater the chances of output being a cut above the regular.

However, one might wonder why professionals should be hired over amateurs when the former charge more than the latter.

At the outset, the difference between professionals and amateurs may not be as clear as day and night. But there are several finer, but decisive, aspects one can draw lines between the two:

1. Expertise

Professionals have a method to the madness that amateurs generally lack. The ability to pull off various tricks is common between the two, but professionals have an edge when it comes to being aware of when to pull out and use those tricks.

2. Experience - of various types of projects - of working as part of a team

Skills are necessary, we totally agree. But equally important is working as a team member. The ability to collaborate and contribute without stepping on others’ feet. Functioning as a part of the whole is what ensures that one doesn’t become a clog, and professionals are a safer bet in this regard.
This doesn’t mean that amateurs do not have such traits, but professionals know where to stop and when to go beyond their responsibilities without hindering others’ work. Also, professionals involved in providing video production services will likely have vast experience working for a variety of clients

3. Access to quality equipment

One clear advantage professionals have over amateurs is the access they will have to state-of-the-art equipment. Professionals’ association with, say, a video production agency, will allow them access to equipment that is otherwise nearly impossible for amateurs to get their hands on. So, here, professionals – because of their experience of using different sets of equipment for different projects – command easier access to better equipment.

4. Better creative decision-making ability

Quality of output is directly tied to the quality of decisions taken during production. Not all projects can be approached in the same way and the ability to make tough decisions is a key differentiator. This becomes critical when you are required to provide a corporate video creation service. The client may not need any type of creativity, and you have to draw a line between addressing the client’s needs and your innate need to infuse a video project with creative elements. Experienced professionals can be relied on to make the call that’s best for the client.

5. Reliability and accountability – reputation

The reputation of professionals precedes everything else. While amateurs tend to have a ‘nothing-to-lose’ attitude as they are still in the growth phase, professionals will have a lot at stake. This means they will be more accountable and more willing to take accountability.

6. Efficiency

The value of time and effort is best understood by those who are neck-deep in the profession. Especially those who are known for their branding service specialization activities. Efficiency in time is another edge that professionals provide.

Amateurs might know a dozen things they can do for a project but professionals, with the help of their experience, would also know what not to do. Thereby, avoiding those tasks and activities that do not add value to the project and focusing on what’s necessary. This leads to avoiding a lot of unnecessary effort and hence, time.

The best results are often a by-product of doing small things correctly and professionals who have worked in a system and are aware of the rules – written and unwritten – are the ones you should prefer for your next video project.
